4th Blemab meeting 9/11/2021

In the last six months, RINA-CSM completed the design of the mobile detector housing and started its assembly. Delivery of the first system to INFN is scheduled for early 2022.

The project partner KTH in Stockholm/ Sweden intents to build a semi-empirical mathematical model based on coupling between two different methods, the Discrete Element method (DEM) for modelling of sold particle flow and Computerized Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for modelling of the gas flow/ liquid phase inside the blast furnace. After verification and calibration with industrial measured data, the final model will give information regarding the burden distribution and location and shape of the cohesive zone inside the furnace. Considering the complexity of blast furnace, the initial approach adopted by KTH towards model construction will involve the development and integration of customised sub-models.
