Development of a full-scale Monte Carlo (MC) simulation of the complete muon-tomography system and the inspected furnace

• Simulation based on GEANT4: a toolkit for simulating the passage of particles through matter.
• It contains a realistic representation of the blast furnace, with all its elements and a realistic muons generator, able to reproduce the energy and angular distribution of the real cosmic-rays.
• The BLEMAB detector reproduced along with its response to the passage of the muons.
• The output of the MC simulation designed to match the requirements of the reconstruction.
• MC output weights, on average, 14 kB on disk storage per good event.
• The simulation code has been implemented in the “CLOUD VENETO” a computing facility existing in Padova as OpenCMT Blast Furnace Simulator.
• A visualization tool has been implemented to allow the users to check and debug the MC (see figure).
